Count down to the apocalypse-stormcrows January 12, 2008 17:19 Helm 14 1877 4th age

The council of elves with the stormcrows decided that the leadership of the orcs would have to be destroyed in the final fight. With the head of the enemy gone it was hoped that the orcs would splinter. This had already been seen after the death of Melg, one of Gedreg commanders. The orcs were scattering back into the hills at the east end of the Corsae forest or south. The Stormcrows, Torment warriors three, Rumrad, and Aaelas would be the force to do this. They are to use the gates found in Caer Lu Beleg and gate to Arinis and make all haste to the fight that is to come.

It had been noted that Gedreg and his command usually started in the rear only to go where needed. As for the dragon Sathir(see notes below), the rest of the power base of the elves would commit to either killing it or driving it off. Querli, ruler of Kerbar, a wizard and the main priests of the the city, along with others would be waiting for the dragon.

The final line was to be just south of the city. All the remaining elves of the region were equipped and prayers to Correllion, Solonor and Hanali were being offered up save what was left of the southern Corsae woods.

Dragons were thought to be extinct at the end of the 3rd age, until a couple of years ago, according to the clerics of Oghma, sages and others. The eggs of all the dragons were taken off the prime material plane and were saved for a particular purpose to the east. The eggs were hatched and the dragons were aged in another plane with a time difference. They were then released back in the prime plane to serve two brothers, one good and one evil to fight a greater evil that threatened the east and possibly the world as a whole. The dragons fought and died against a demon horde along with a group of heroes. The horde was defeated, the brothers died and the remaining dragons were allowed to go their own ways.

The dragons when brought back were in the young adult to adult stage of their lives. Who set up this plan is unknown and unclear to all who researched this. Helm 16 1877 4th age

The stale air soured the mouths of the two Elves as they wandered down stairs that hadn’t been touched in over a age. Querili, the leader of the Elves of Kerbar, spoke to the other elf. “The orb is said to be in the chamber, Haman.” The other elf nodded. “How did you know of it?” “It came to me when we were told of the dragon.” Querili looked again at Haman, “And how did the dragon story start?” “Scouts reported the creature, Querili.”

The elves moved into the chamber brushing away cobwebs. At one end of the chamber they came upon a box. The wooden box was inscribed in elvish and the metal trims still gleamed through the dust. Querili took the key that he had, having been passed down through the generations to him, and opened the box. A pale pink glow emerged from the box and both the elves looked in and noted the smooth, round crystal.

Querili reached in and lifted the crystal out of the box. Haman saw pain in Querili’s eyes and a shadow cast about him. “We must find the dragon quickly for this thing consumes me. Cast a healing spell on me to keep myself going” Haman cast the spell and both the elves went back up the stairs, leaving a empty box.

Gedreg looked at his forces deployed on the field and had a surge of pride in his accomplishments. He was going to destroy the elves. All the frustration the delay of rebuilding the bridge that the longears had destroyed had made him out of sorts. Malhauts’ suggestion that Sathir be deployed out on the far wing had seemed excellent at the time but he wanted the big red for himself. He, Gedreg wanted to tame the dragon to ride for himself.

He looked about and had his final discussions of his commanders and sent them out. The dragon at the far end, the giants at what seemed to be a hinge in their lines. He looked at his prisoners, all barely alive, laid out on the ground. The Gruumish priest walking about them, lazily touching his spear to each of them and smiling. Gedreg would have liked to have the powers that Gruumsh gave his priests, slaying a creature cured some of the wounds that the priest received. The priest was to cast a shield other on Gedreg if they were attacked and the Drow wizard was hiding in one of a greater darkness spell that he had cast. It was going to be a good day.

Malhaut appeared before the Stormcrows, leshur, Rumrad and Aaelas. He smiled and spoke, “Greetings, Lothar to you and your friends, excellent day for a fight in my opinion.” He smiled, showing his razorlike teeth, and pointed to the stormcrows. “Its on your heads the additional deaths the elves will have today. All you had to do was to convince Lothar that he should sign over his soul and the carnage could be stopped.” Lothar looked at his compatriots, he had been wondering why they had been asking him strange questions recently. He looked back and began to insult the devil, who continued to smile.

Malhaut spoke again. “You, Lothar have been a useful tool for me, your mentor, Shingo, and possibly Gedreg. If you kill the orc, I get his soul, if you die, I will lose an annoying if not useful tool. I feel that I will win either way.” Malhaut then disappeared.

Torment asked who was that guy?

The elf, looked out on the hordes of the orcs, and was afraid. Although there were dead orcs to the front of him from the archers stationed near him, there were more to replace him. He looked to his right where he saw a comrade, with two arrows sticking out of his head. One arrow had pierced the left eye, but there was no comrade to step beside him. He steeled himself for the hand to hand butchery to follow——The orc looked at longears line and uttered up a prayer to Gruumsh. He was almost immediately flushed for combat, looked to his compatriots, began to scream the name of Gruumsh and pushed his legs forward into battle.

The Stormcrows and their allies had located Gedreg with the use of a commune with nature spell. The group snuck up by using the dense woods. Lothar and Flook Dingle Jag stayed back. Flook Dingle Jag flew up and spotted Gedreg on a hill, his priest of gruumsh, bodyguards, and two balls of darkness. Flook Dingle Jag struck the first blow with an firebal1 spell which caught the priest and some of the body guards in some form as well as a couple of prisoners. Nuna unleashed a call lightning as well on the priest as well as an entangle spell which caught almost all the orcs.

From Gedreg side a response came and caught Flook Dingle Jag in a feeblemind which took him out of the fight. The Stormcrows and the allies were not sure of where the spell came from. Rumrad and Aaelas shot arrows into Gedreg who was tearing his way through the entangle.

Hyorn Rutherford had precast protection fire spell on himself and cast spell resistance on the druid. this would prove to be invaluable as leshur dropped a necklace of fireballs on them. The druid came through unscathed, and Hyorn Rutherford took minimal damage.

The Stormcrows and allies continued their assault on the struggling orcs. The Torment warriors three got into the fights with some of the bodyguards that finally freed themselve of the entangle. Still the elf couple poured arrow fire into Gedreg. Lothar and Torment both then attacked Gedreg.

Lothar’s axe spelleater, bounced a enervation spell cast at him and a bad die roll saved him from the vampiric touch spell also cast at him. Gedreg took several savage blows at Lothar who went etherial just before contact. Torment wasnt as lucky, he was hit by several of the bodyguards, but not before landing blows on Gedreg but was eventually cut down. Lothar killed Gedreg in one spectular series of attack.

Nuna and her cat enlarged before the battle went into the orc bodyguards and systematically destroyed them while continuing to reign down death from above.

leshur caused damage but was unable to finish anyone else off and eventually fled the fight.

In the end, Gedreg, his body guards and the priest of Gruumsh were dead and the stormcrows and allies gathered together to finish the fight with the main body. Their losses, Torment dead, Flook Dingle Jag feebleminded and others wounded January 25, 2008 01:47 helm 16-26 1877 4th age

Battle of the bloody woods stormcrows The orcish army routs but at what cost?

The stormcrows and their allies began to reorganize themselves to continue the attack on the orcs and their allies when they heard the chimes of a bell. The smell of brimstone met their noses as a familiar face to many of the stormcrows appeared.

It was Malhaut smiling at them and ringing a small bell. The heroes could see bluish outlines of Gedreg and his bodyguard rising from the slain bodies and walking towards the devil. “Its been a good day for me, and it’s still your fault that many elves have had to die this day.” looking to the other members of the stormcrows. Nuna enraged tried to attack Malhaut and found he could not. Malhaut frowned a little and then resumed his smile. Lothar uttered a string of verbal abuses on the devil. Malhaut just smile and spoke,”Lothar you are a very useful tool to me, just look what you gave me.” Lothar replied “I fight for Tempus, do you consider him a tool also?” Malhaut said yes and Lothar smiled.

“You can still attempt to save some of the elves, there is a group of giants killing elves about quarter mile to the east.” Malhaut then disappeared. At this point Lothar took Gedreg body and climbed aboard Nuna and sprinted towards the enemy line with the others following and screaming to draw the orcish attackers attention. The group found the fight and the orcs began to notice. Lothar in the front of the orcs, removed Gedreg’s head and the orcs morale failed miserably and they began to rout in droves. The stormcrows moved along the orcish line until they found the giants who were mopping up elves in single blows. They attacked the giants and took them out. In the distance they could see Sathir the red dragon who seemed to be taking the brunt of blows from the ground, and soon Sathir retreated from the fight. The rest of the day was mop up. Rumrad and Aaelas had seperated from the group and was working with the rest of the elves.

Toward evening the survivors met to get a count of friends left. The stormcrows,Rumrad, Aaelas,Gorim warriors three and knut warriors three were still alive. Torment warriors three was dead. The group also met Querili, who had aged considerably since the previous day. Querili needed assistance to sit down. Aaelas began a song and was joined in by the other elves standing about.

The next day the process of finding the dead and dieing began and began to count the final cost. This process lasted a couple of days. Querili had promised to mentor Flook Dingle Jag and Setsuka in the ways of spells of the 6th order. Querili had explained that the item that he used to drive off the dragon had a cost in his life span but it was worth it. Torment warriors three was brought back from the dead and the entire party was invited to Caer lu Beleg for a ceremony honoring the recently passed.

At the ceremony the group was accorded the title of Rauther (elf friend) and given gifts. Nuna was offered the position of stewart and Setsuka was offered the choice of being the Besfali(oathshadow) leader in the woods or to the human leader in the south.

Lothar had a dream from his deity, nodding approval. January 31, 2008 20:23 Helm 16-Aria 14 1877 4th age

Weary of war the stormcrows take the slow way home

Many things are decided in the elvish councils of Helm 17-20. The major item is that Arinis will be abandoned as a city and will be made into a monument. The city of Caer Lu Beleg will be partially reopened to use the gates of the city to move the elves to other sites. It was also decided that the southern Corsae elves could not send troops to their northern brethren. The leaders in charge felt that news of Gedreg’s demise and the hoped for relief by the dwarves would send the orcs back to their hills.

Nuna and Setsuka made their decisions to leave the Corsae woods. Nuna wanted vengence against Malhaut while Setsuka decided to be the outside contact. Just before the group departed to the south, Querili passed away of old age, the item that he had weilded against the red dragon, sapped out his life. The Warriors three decided to head north.

The stormcrows decided to take the more leisurely way home. The group moved through the woods, still smelling of smoke and death. The destruction that had been left was disheartening but Nuna tossed out seeds that she had gathered and sprinkled them about.

The group made their way to the ferry. Mary, wife of Longtom, a dead friend of the Stormcrows, was there along with the brood of eight children. The family had always been protected by the elves and the halflings of the Mounds to the south, but that protection was now in jeopardy and Mary was debating about taking the family south into Greater Baradan. The group had a restful night except for Nuna’s cat Talaria who had children all about her.

The group left and headed south into the halfling community of the Mounds where they met with the new head of the community Kal and told him of the situation to the north. The halflings had depended on trade with the Corsae elves so were concerned about the future.

The group next marched into Pavis, where they renewed acquaintences with old friends, Gwenhundra and Feth. Pavis had fared poorly in the last year with the war and the emergence of the Vampiress Lucia. Less than 50% of the populace remained within the city.

Lothar at this time, decided that he would dominant a sword that he had kept in storage there. It was a bastard sword named Black Razor, which was cursed. The more opponents killed by the sword the higher the opportunity for the sword to dominate him and to push him into a killing spree. There was said to be an amulet which would control these rages but it had not been found. Lothar had vowed to control the sword and took it into the wilderness about Pavis. Lothar spent the better part of the week chanting to his god and attempting to bend the will of the sword to him. It was exhausting, but eventually the sword succumbed to the will of Lothar.

The group took leave of Pavis, made a short stop with Alain to determine why he had not helped against the red dragon Sathir and his quote was I have done enough. The group didn’t question this and continued south where they finally made it to the northern most of the provinces of Greater Baradan. They stopped at a non-descript tavern where they noticed a sign stating that benders and bloodersPsionics and sorcerers were not allowed in the tavern. Puzzled by the statement the group inquired and found that soon after the group left the kingdoms, troubles began to break out. Benders and Blooders were being attacked in the streets of the various communities and there were reprisals, sometimes escalating into more violence. The Stormcrows were puzzled by this and resolved to find out more once they had reached locast.

The group reached Locast and renewed friendships, in particular Helevous a Elvish wizard whom they had adventured with in the past. He was now the head of the wizards guild and began to answer questions a put some forth himself.

As for the bender-blooder problem, a curfew was enacted to cut down the violence at night. A counsel was set up to meet and discuss the problems in a effort to bring the situation in a peaceful way. Helevous also informed the Stormcrows of the new law which required somebody to purchas e a license to be able to buy magic items. All the stores that sold such items were no longer in business.

Helevaous asked Lothar if he were single with a smile. With the asset of land to the north of the city, he-lothar would have people willing to do arranged marriages with nice dowries to potientally hold more land. Lothar gulped at that.

The group then split up to achieve certain goals Hyorn Rutherford went north to learn some new metamagic feats from the Supreme Magister. The trip would take about three weeks. Nuna sought the wisdom of the priests or sages to learn of Malhaut in order to find the creature that brought the elvish race down. Flook Dingle Jag decided to legend lore about the Book of Varanos, said to be full of new transmutation spells. This would take about five weeks and Flook Dingle Jag was ambitious to learn a new feat and spells. Lothar went north to survey his new land. February 02, 2008 23:41 Nuna had a mission in mind. She wanted to gather information about Malhaut. In her mind she wanted revenge for the deaths of her people. The stormcrows were in the city of locast and she was told that several of the priesthoods and the sages guild could be of help to her. As Nuna and her cat had never been inside a human city before, the situation was very strange and stressful. People gaped and watched her and her cat carefully. The crowds made Teleria, the cat nervous. Her sense of direction failed her as she moved about the narrow streets but eventually she found the street of Temples and came to the Temple of Oghama, under the sign of a scroll.

Nuna-Stormcrows Nuna searches for information

Nuna went to the door and attempted to open it but found that it was locked. Again something different from which she was brought up. There were no barred paths in the Elvish Kingdoms. She had seen others knocking on the door and attempted to do so. A response came and a youngish man came to the door. He was the priest there named Lucas. He had what appeared to be a floating piece of parchment with him(see oghma). He inquired as to the elves need and she told him. He said that he could research and gather the information and it would probably take a week or two and that it would cost money. Nuna hadnt had much dealing with money in her life but had been given some by the other members of the party. Some of the others had gone off to perform other tasks set before them. She returned to Lothar

At the end of the two weeks she returned and Lucas gave her the following information.

Malhaut was a harvester devil. His specialty is warrior souls. Good aligned weapons deal the most damage. The creature is immune to fire and poision and is able to summon aid. The devil can create doubles of itself and has a protective ward which must be overcome before it can be attacked unless it attacks first. The wound from its dagger weakens the victim unless he attacks a friend.

It is native to the Nine hells of Baator. There is rumored a book in the libary at Valanar, old Sey Fo that might have more pertinent information. February 03, 2008 00:23 Hyorn Rutherford looked to the land from the sea and could see the Temple of Tyr where the head of the priesthood, Jurgen made rule. The temple was in the shape of a scale with a center piece and two wings shaped like inverted cones. He would be landing soon.

Hyorn Rutherford-Stormcrows Travelling to see the Supreme Magistar

A little over a year before he had been a fledgling priest and now he would met with the elder statesman of the church to complete some training and to discuss the offer made by Justin in locast for taking over one of the open temples in the southland. He had some pangs of lonleyness as this also the first time in over a year that he had been away from his comrades. His total time away from his comrades would be three to four weeks. February 06, 2008 03:39 Flook had been told of the book of Veranos. The book of Veranos was reputed to hold the secrets of transmutation spells that were not generally known.

Flook-Stormcrows Flook legend lores

Flook cast the spell and was given the following information. the Book of Veranos is made of iron and is 6’ in length and 3’ in width. Its weight is approximately 1000lbs. The lock on the book consists of four different types of locks all built by mastercrafters. One lock is a combination, the second lock is based on astrological, the third lock is a key and the fourth and final lock is unknown.

The book is said to be in a city in the desert to the east.

The road to the city is a treacherous one. You must first pass through what the dwarves call Durvil(dark exile), what the elves have named Firali(darkshadow) It is a forest of immense width, with the trees being a sickly green in color, and of odd shapes. The elves don’t wish to live there but evil creatures, many not seen, live in it. Although the rainfall is somewhat scarce, there is is to be a foul swamp in the middle. After passing this comes the desolate wastes which very little lives and then the city arises out of the desert afterward.

Veranos decided to conduct his work in a remote desert. He found a community of lizardmen and promised them protection if they would build a structure to house him. He brought forth water so the tribe could become larger and stronger than their neighbors. In addition, he made a deal with a creature to protect the lizardmen if he were gone for a period of time.

Veranos came back to the Baradan area, proclaiming that he had found all the possible combinations of transmutations to the guild, but he appeared changed to those who were there that day. He wore a heavy suit which covered his body entirely and he moved slowly, and his voice had a strange tone to it. He presented his speech to the assemledge and said he must go and has never came back.

Flook is awaiting more information about its creator Veranos. A wizard of the early 4th February 06, 2008 03:46 Setsuka decided that after the war that she needed to create alliances with the humans and decided to take the position of the Besfali ambassador with the human society. Her goal would be that of using the humans to aid her people back from the brink of the destruction that the orcs wrought.

Setsuka-Stormcrows Setsuka decides to take position

Setsuka was given abode in the Glow (that part of the city where many of the arcane and divine live) a stipend, and a human servant. Her neighbors are Havelous and Talon. February 07, 2008 20:23 After returning the ghostly priest of Dumathoin to the dwarvish community of Ithag-a-dor, Lothar and the rest of the stormcrows returned to locast. There the stormcrows went off to tasks that they had decided to do. Lothar met with Andrew at the Temple in the city. Andrew was given great responsibility by Lothar to run things in his stead.

Lothar-Stormcrows Lothar begins to learn some of the trappings of power

There was a meeting with Elric of Chernak. Lothar and Andrew would travel to the lands granted to the Stormcrows and meet with two nearby nobles whom had offers to make. Andrew suggested that Lothar buy new attire to benefit his new status. Lothar bristled about it.

The meeting with Elric of Chernak went somewhat well. Lothar asked about the psionics and sorcerers and the edicts that had been placed about the provinces and why this was occuring. Elric of Chernak replied that the group needed protection and there was discussion of putting all of them in one place to achieve this protection. The second item was that of the restrictions on the buying and selling of magic items, Elric of Chernak waved his hand and changed the subject.

Lothar,Nuna and Andrew rode out the lands. Andrew had already had the area surveyed and noted to Lothar where a good spot for the keep, the temples of Tempus and Tyr should be laid out and was discussing the fertility of the land when they were interrupted by a human male and his child. He introduced himself as Baris and his daughter Maria. He was lord of Tuscancy and wanted to thank the Stormcrows for saving his castle. He then invited them to dinner and discussed an arranged marriage for Lothar and his eight year old daughter maria. This appalled Lothar and made Nuna courious. Lothar and Nuna went to a town nearby and bought clothing to make himself presentable as for the dinner. The dinner was awkard for Lothar and he was glad to leave in the morning.

The trio was again discussing the land when again they were interupted by a man and a woman. He was one of the leaders rescued in Tuscancy and he also offered Lothar his daughter Althea who was 18 and beautiful. Lothar noted the scowl on Althea’s face and spoke to her privately. She was not excited by the possibility of the arranged marriage but was her fathers daughter.

Lothar was then called to a meeting at safehome(archives stormcrows) where he suffered from a lack of understanding of the economics involved as well as being dandified up to meet with the rulers.

Decisions-Stormcrows the stormcrows decide their next action February 15, 2008 16:35 Aria 16-18 1877 4th age

Lothar was unhappy. He was being forced into a arena which he had no expertise. Politics. He had heard from the three province rulers that he and the other stormcrows had rescued in the previous year. The three of them had concerns about Elric of Chernak rule as well as the potiental conflict about the psionics and sorcerers, the moving in of new businesses that were changing the old ways of doing things. The other stormcrows began to return from their various enterprises.

The stormcrows met with Andrew, a follower of Tempus who was doing financial things for the temple, who Lothar had been using to aid him. He spoke with the group about the finances of building a keep and two temples, one to Tempus and the other to Tyr. The group ponied up starting funds for all the projects. Andrew had already obtained funds from the temples for the temple projects and had hired the architect and crews the project.

The stormcrows also recieved a visit from Elizabeth, a priestess of Selune, whom the group had befriended in the past. She told them of a monk named Marcus who had something to tell them about Elric of Chernak. The group went down to the port district in locast and ran into Tobias who wished to meet with the group concerning possible financial arrangements. They would meet him that night in Above the others-a top of the line eating establishment.

The stormcrows arrived at the circular temple of Selune and entered. It was disconcerting to the group, for within the temple was complete and utter darkness, all they could see was the pale head of Elizabeth who took off her broad rimmed hat and gloves. it was like a disembodied head. She waved her hand and the light became something like that of a full moon. She invited them to sit down and retrieved Marcus. Marcus sat down and asked a question with a stutter were any of them Arcane spellcasters and could they leave. Flook Dingle Jag voluntary left the room and Lothar told Marcus that he trusted Flook Dingle Jag with his life.

Marcus, stuttering the whole time, told the group of the Chessmans guild. This guild, consisting of Arcane spellcasters, believed that they, the Arcane were the only ones with enough wisdom to rule all the people with a even and just hand. They would need to have total control of all aspects in order to do this and had a huge amount of funds available to them. The stormcrows took this in and asked how Marcus was aware of this. He explained that he was in a spot where he shouldn’t have been and was partially discovered and has been on the run since then. He said that he was accused of a murder which he didnt commit, he was set up by members of the guild.

the stormcrows said that they would think about it and then went to the dinner sponsored by Tobias. Tobias has a somewhat shady reputation so it came as no surprise when he asked the stormcrows about the possibility of housing psonics and sorcerers within his kingdom. Tobias and the stormcrows would split the fees for transporting the people and the stormcrows could collect housing fees. Lothar said that he would take it under advisement and would render no decision at this time.

Lothar also had a seperate discussion with Talon about psonics primarily, wanting a statement of support for his people. Talon in general was not liked by the stormcrows, it was rumored that he was responsible for the death of the father of one of the previous members of the group. Lothar was non committal about the situattion

The group then met on their own, going over the options, Nuna wanted to go after Malhaut but realized that the group wasn’t ready to deal with it. Hyorn Rutherford was waiting mostly for the new temple to be built to take control of it. Flook Dingle Jag had legend lored for a special spell book(see Flook-stormwatch) which Malhaut had spoken to him about in a attempt to get Lothar to sign over his soul. Flook Dingle Jag had cast the spell and found out information about the book and the location. So it was decided to travel to the east and gather the book.

On the road again-stormcrows gone book hunting

The stormcrows made final preparations for heading to the east. Flook Dingle Jag legend lore gave him the initial information and the group made plans based on that info. The group was looking for a final item for Lothar and found out to be able to purchase any sort of magic item would require a license of 5,000 eagles(gp) before you could purchase any magic item. This infuriated Lothar because he was a hero and shouldn’t be required to do such a thing. He and the rest of the stormcrows went to Elric of Chernak to see if he could get around this new law.

The stormcrows were granted audience with Elric of Chernak. He had guests that were just leaving and he introduced them to the crows. This was the “border company” consisting of Pierce a wizard, Runald, a priest of Oghma and a fighter dressed in the typical fashion of the Northern Sea Kingdoms. His chainmail was painted in blue, with a excellent rendition of a red dragon circling the armor. He had the full beard that most of the Northern Sea kingdoms(NSK) wore.

Elric of Chernak greeted them and went back to his throne and sat down with a flourish. He asked as to what they were there to see him about. Lothar told him that he was looking to have to not purchase the license. Elric of Chernak outlook darkened and he told the group that the license fee was the same for everybody. Lothar asked about the price in sey fo. Elric of Chernak said it was also 5,000. Lothar remarked about the sameness of the prices. Elric of Chernak shrugged his shoulders and coldly asked if there were any other business that could be done. Elric of Chernak reminded Lothar of his required meeting in about three weeks, Lothar said he might not be there and that Setsuka would sit in his place. Elric of Chernak asked him where he was going and Lothar said on the road. The audience ended.

Flook Dingle Jag was excited about the possiblities with the new spells that he had learned and suggested teleport to Ithag-a-dor, the dwarvish stronghold just outside Greater Baradan, the stormcrows had hoped to make a purchase there perhaps.

The teleport worked fine except that the group scared a merchant with a pony and he swore at them, not realizing that Flook Dingle Jag could understand his language. Flook just smiled. The group was then met by a formal greeter who took them into the stronghold and into antechamber. The greeter asked to what the Stormcrows business was too be. They answered with first making possible purchases of magic items and second, any information about the Durvil forest to the east. To the first the greeter claimed that they would have to provide a document of being a legal buyer. The dwarves had come to an agreement with Elric about the license. Lothar asked what the dwarves got out of this agreement, the greeter said that it couldn’t be discussed. for the second a chronicler would be brought before the group.

the chronicler was brought forth and gave the group as much information that she had about the Dirvil. The group slept and set out the next day. They were offered the services of one of the bear riders. They accepted and met Gorum, who was a pleasant sort of guy, unlike Gorim of the Warriors three. The trip was uneventful except for the rain that began to fall. Gorum told the group of the mining community Toren on the eastern slope of the mountains. The group slept for the night and the bear rider left in the morning.

The stormcrows marched down to the town of Toren(population 100-150} but found it empty of people. There were dogs barking at them, the stormcrows searched the town and found nobody. Nuna began to track footprints and found that they led to the mine itself. The stormcrows entered and moved down into the bowels of the mine. They encountered the towns folk down in the tunnels. The townsfolk moved slowly but attempted to attack the group. The towns people were slow but relentless. The stormcrows beat off the initial wave and began to retreat towards the entrance of the cave but found that additional towns folk were blocking their way….. Aria 21 1877 4th age

the stormcrows learn about psionics February 28, 2008 23:19

The stormcrows looked up in the darkness at the rabble at the top of the incline. Behind them some of the peasantry was stirring behind them. A hollow voice from above shouted out “surrender”. The stormcrows mulled this over for all of a second then asked to whom are we surrendering? “our leader” was the reply. Lothar made a slightly obscene reply and Flook Dingle Jag had the group huddle around him and D-doored out of the mine into the village leaving the bad guys behind.

The group spent the next several minutes preparing for the townsfolk and who ever controlled them. The towns folk, most of them moved slowly towards the group, however a couple of them moved at a higher pace and the group noticed a couple of greyish dwarves with the group. Flook Dingle Jag noticed a invisible figure among the group and then felt intense pain and a memory of a fireball that had killed him in the past. Nuna summoned two dire lions to aid the in the combat.

The combat lasted a long time. The group tried to subdue the townsfolk while fending off their attacks. Fortunately the townsfolk in general didnt hit well but the grey dwarves and a couple of others began to pile up damage on some of the group.

Lothar went up to the invisible figure who had been outlined by a fairiefire from Flook Dingle Jag but was having difficulty hitting the creature. Lothar was subjected to a series of mental attacks, no of which succeeded. He discerned that there were two types of mental attacks on his being, one of which if he failed to resist, would be the death of him. Aid reached Lothar in the form of Nuna and her cat. Content Not Found: hyorn-rutherfor cast a area dispell which the creature looked very annoyed about. The creature found itself surrounded and disappeared. The group looked around.

The creature appeared from another part of the town and sent one of the cats away, the other finally having been brought down. This caused some puzzlement on the part of the group. Flook Dingle Jag had been blasting away at the creature only to find that his spells were having no effect on the creature. The cat and mouse fight continued with neither side having much effect on the other although Lothar continually felt his well being being threatened and he began to accumulate damage on him. Nuna missed a save and was thrown into the future but came back the next round.

The fight continued with both sides depleting their resources, finally the creature made a final disappearance and failed to return. The stormcrows caught their collective breathe and began to heal… March 06, 2008 22:55 Aria 22 1877 4th age

Into the deeps Stormcrows A stalemate underground

The stormcrows mended the damage done to them and began to awaken the villagers who had been knocked out by the blows of the group. As they roused them, it became evident that the townspeople were fuzzy as to what happened to them and why they would attack the Stormcrows.

the townsfolk stated that they broke into a chamber with columns and things went blank thereafter. The group decided to go into the cavern the next day but didnt mention it to the villagers. The villagers came over and offered a percentage of their take from the mine to rid the menance that faced them. The Stormcrows accepted the offer and were given some money up front.

That night the village was attacked by a strange creature. it was during Lothar and Nuna’s watch. Talaria, Nuna pet companion, fled in terror from the creature. Lothar nearly succumbed to the urge to attack himself. The creature was eventually defeated.

The group entered the mines following instructions from the miners and found the chamber. It was large and dark. There were columns 20 ft wide and set about 20 ft about in perfect rows. The room itself was about 100 feet in width and appeared to be deeper. The group created illumination to aid them in looking around. The group buffed up and the group went in looking about nervously. A wall of cold, came up between Nuna and Hyorn Rutherford inflicting damage on the two of them as well as the cat. Nuna spotted the creature that they had fought against before. Lothar sprinted to the creature and attempted to grapple it.

Nuna successfully resisted the cold, thanks to Hyorns’ spell but her cat did not and stayed back. The creature slipped away from Lothar and attempted to distinegrate him. Lothar sucessfully resisted but still took significant damage. Lothar regrappled the creature.

Flook Dingle Jag had no luck in beating the creature with spells last time so polymorphed himself into a hill giant, scraping his head on the ceiling and moved to the fight.

The creature disappeared from Lothar’s grasp. The group went looking around and began to split up. The creature came back and launched another cold wall on the group, the resistance spell that Hyorn Rutherford had cast earlier protected him again from the cold. Flook Dingle Jag cast glitterdust on the creature who was blinded.

Lothar again rushed to the creature who again disappeared. Lothar notice a door and pulled it open. He saw his reflection in the door but noticed that it moved differently from him. The clone of Lothar swung at lothar.

Hyorn Rutherford came up behind Lothar to heal lothar while Flook Dingle Jag and Nuna started a dangerous search for the creature. Flook Dingle Jag found a secret door and set off a trap which didn’t affect him and Nuna found another secret door and went down a hallway, tried a door any barely escaped a pit trap. In the meantime Lothar and his clone fought a bloody fight, Hyorn kept healing Lothar while his clone didnt have the healing. Lothar also beat on the glass shattering it. Lothar eventually won the fight.

No Victory no defeat-Stormcrows March 29, 2008 04:16 Aria 22-23 1877 4th age

The stormcrows moved from the chamber of pillars and down the corrider that Flook Dingle Jag went down, still polymorphed as a giant. A door stood before them but not very long. Another room opened up with another door. Again the door was splintered and a stairwell down, again followed to a door. Again a splintering and a large cavern loomed before the group. They spotted structures and discerned figures moving about. The stormcrows shut up the door as well as they could and moved to the other corridor. Flook Dingle Jag cast a mass fly spell as the corridor was still hanging open to the pit trap. The group then opened the door and found another room of black and white alternating squares with a door in the opposite corner.

The group moved to the other door, broke it down and found yet another stairwell down and another door. In this room was a platform and two statues. As the stormcrows moved in the statues moved and attacked the group. The fighting was fast and furious. Both Lothar and Flook Dingle Jag were nearly down for the count but Hyorn Rutherford kept up his pace of healing, burning up nearly all his spells to keep his comrades alive. Exhausted after the long fight the group went on through the door and found that they were in the same large cavern as before with the creatures that were there. The group identified them as Duegar and decided that discretion was the better part of valor and shut that door and returned to the village.

They told the group that they were not sure of being able to defeat the mind killer(Illithid)and of the duegar that resided also within. The villagers decided to have a conference among themselves about the situation. The village had started the mine at the top of the bluff and had been working their way down the interior for several years and things had been good. But, the stormcrows couldn’t guarentee a victory and the villages had fallen to the tenacled creature without much struggle. The villagers after a discussion that lasted through the night decided that they would leave.

In the meantime Lothar had a dream. The first such dream in a long time. This dream showed his sword “Black Razor” speaking although he couldn’t make out the words. He saw images of him meeting his god Tempus in a large and lonely castle in the plane of Limbo and the god touching his sword. In addition, he saw himself visiting with a Rokan woman and child with a Rokan structure in the back ground and the sword was in the background. He wasn’t sure of the meaning.

The villagers thanked the stormcrows for their efforts and one of them gave the group additional information about Durvill and the desert beyond the mountain. Apparently one of the miners had been lost in the desert and was saved by a wizard with half of his face black and the other white. The wizard was named Tarot and he had a castle in the middle of the desert. He also stated that also he wasn’t harmed he had the sense of being fattened up like a calf to slaughter and sought to escape. He escaped but doesnt really remember how he did it.

The group left. aria 23,24 1877 4th age

Grell and Giant-Stormcrows April 12, 2008 06:33

The group left the encampment via phantom steeds summoned by Flook Dingle Jag. The stormcrows rode just above the ground until they reached the Durvill forest. There Nuna sensed the corruption of the land. The trees were a wrong color and were set in unnatural shapes. She felt that it wasn’t just the trees but the ground below it. The group rose above the trees and flew onward.

As they traveled onward several of them heard a scream of pain. The group debated shortly about whether or not they should find out what the scream was about, but they decided to investigate the sound. They came upon a giant some 18 feet tall and with a greenish tint being beset upon by creatures with brainlike heads, beaks and tentacles. There were seven of them and one seemed to be the leader. The stormcrows attacked. Flook Dingle Jag using his new feat of sculpt spell attempted to fireball the tenacled creatures but his attempt was dispelled by the leader of the creatures. Lothar and Nuna went into melee with the creatures. The giant fell to the ground.

Flook Dingle Jag felt his intelligence drain down from the leader but continued his magical assault on the group. Lothar felt the multiple stings of the tentacles but shrugged off the numbing effects and took a couple of the creatures down. Lothar also felt his strength wane considerably from a spell from the creature but Nuna had an answer for that and Lothar strength returned. The two of them were hit by a lightning bolt but withstood the damage.

Flook Dingle Jag magic brought the others leaving the leader alone who tried to get away but was caught and killed. The stormcrows stood around the giant watching him slowly come around from the paralysis which had brought him down. He said something but it was unintelligible to all but Flook Dingle Jag who had permanently had comphrend language cast upon himself. The giant asked why? Flook Dingle Jag repeated the message to the group who were as puzzled as himself. The group made peaceful gestures to the giant and allowed him to stand up and the group was in awe of the height of the creature. The giant reached into his bag and handed the group a giant acorn. It was about 6” in diameter and about the same in height. He handed it to Flook Dingle Jag and walked away. The group detected magic and found it magical. Hyorn Rutherford healed the group and they continued their journey. It took them five hours to cross the expanse of the Durvill, seeing the swamp within the center of woods and noting that there were living things within the swamp. They passed beyond the forest and started into the mountains. At the crest they stopped for the night.

On the morning, the group looked at the expanse of desert before them. Nuna cast resist heat on the group, for she had determined that the temperature would exceed 100 degrees at the valley floor. The phantom steeds were summoned and the group moved down the mountains to the desert. The group kept a wary eye for one of the miners had told them of a wizard with a black and white face that had saved him from the desert and kept him see(No Victory no defeat-Stormcrows} The desert was a hard pack, the first thing that the group noticed was what appeared to be a large scar across the desert some 120 feet wide. The scar went as far as the group could see. Nuna mentioned that the scar was at least a month old in her opinion. The travel was uneventful for two hours but the group notice a cloud of dust in the distance which seemed to move. The group had their mounts rise and kept a look at the cloud. They determined that the cloud was moving slower than them but was trying to intecept them. Nuna again looked and could see that it was a structure moving along the ground. They determined that they had seen enough and spurred their mounts.

Tarot-Stormcrows Edit

Aria 25,26 1877 4th age

The Stormcrows looked at the man floating in the air a distance away, noting his half black face and red robes. He spoke. “Who gave you permission to travel upon my desert?” Lothar spoke for the group and apologised for the intrusion on his desert. “I insist on you joining me at my castle.” He then waved his hand and the phantom steeds which the group was riding were dispelled and the group floated to the ground.

He pointed to the north where the group could see the dust cloud that surrounded his castle. The group moved to the castle. The man reappeared in front of the door. Flook Dingle Jag could see that he was aglow with magic. They entered the wizards home and were impressed with the quality of the castle. The floors were of a blue tile which seemed cool to the feet. The walls had several paintings on the walls. One was a sequential picture of a woman from birth to death. Another wall had a picture of a ship sailing and the ship was moving in the painting. A third wall had a red curtain on it. The group saw stone golem servants bringing in water for the group. “I am Tarot and you are my guests.” in a tone that brooked no disagreement.

A discussion ensued, the Stormcrows found out that Tarot was the last of a group of wizards who overlooked the races of Beldorn and would push things in a proper direction. He mentioned of Barabass and his Dragon wife Ruth, of Felker, Ho Chin, Abdul and others. Flook Dingle Jag recongized these names as great wizards of previous ages. When asked about his age, Tarot said older than you think. The group asked more about why he doesn’t do things like that today. His response was that without the rest of wizards it wasn’t worth it. He went over to a table and waved a hand. Images of Lothar flashed by. He turned and said that Lothar is a node of history. Lothar was rather miffed about the intrusion.

Tarot invited the group to dinner and insisted on it. Each had their favorite dish served to them. A cursory look at the dinnerware, the group realized that the value of the dishes exceeded some 15,000 gold. He then suggested that they retire to the parlor and insisted on them having a drink. The parlor had a map of the world and the Stormcrows asked about where there they were on the map. The group realized that this would be worth alot to cartographers of the region. They noticed that the liquor that was being served also had a high worth.

The Stormcrows and Tarot discussed the location where the group was going. Tarot gave some information about the lizardmen who lived there, the structure, a little of Varanos and the book that the group was looking for. It seems that Varanos was turned into living metal due to some curse that he has not been able to remove.

Dessert was served and Tarot insisted on them having a piece. The Stormcrows decided that they needed to leave. Tarot insisted on them staying but Lothar said no that they needed to leave. The Stormcrows left through the front door and found a howling desert wind blowing but decided to press on and then would go up through a rope trick to rest for the night.

It was during this rest, that Lothar’s sword Blackrazor spoke to him. It spoke of him unlocking the least of its abilities and described other quests that would be required of him to unlock the rest of the swords abilities.

The Stormcrows traveled across the desert the next day and over the hills seeing mostly desolate barren terrain. After several hours of travel green was spotted by Nuna As the group got closer they could see a community within a large green area and blue of water. The group landed and walked through the upright crops along the outside of the town. The Stormcrows looked at dusty colored lizardmen who were working the crops and the lizardmen looked back. At the gate of the town the group was stopped by a trio of guards who hissed at them. Flook Dingle Jag understood the words and translated them to the group. It was not a object of greetings. One of the trio spun some balls on a stick making a clacking sound and soon a head popped up on the wall by the gate. This lizardman had a cloth cap on his head and told the group to go away in a tongue understood by the group. The stormcrows deliberated about this until the lizard man with the cloth cap disappeared rather rapidly behind the gates. He reappeared and told the gate keepers to open the doors.

A musty reptilian smell assailed the stormcrows noses as well as a putrid rancid smell. Several lizardmen stood between the humans and the doorway they had just entered. One extremely large lizardman with his hand on the lizardman with the cloth cap whispered to the cloth cap one. “You are welcome here” with a look that looked like a grin. “We are eating, please join us.” The lizardmen motioned the group to walk down the street, the rancid smell got stronger and the group saw why. There was an open pit with various dead creatures, being eaten by the lizardmen. The Stormcrows felt that disrection was the better part of valor and began to back away towards the gate. Lizardmen from behind crowded behind the group. Flook Dingle Jag yelled out that they had come to see Varanos. This stopped the lizardman push. The big lizardman picked out six of the lizardmen and motioned Flook Dingle Jag to follow them. The lizardmen went back and forth trying to get Flook Dingle Jag confused. They came upon the structure described by Tarot, a squarish building surrounded by water with a bridge going to a set of doors. Outside the water area was a series of holes. Flook Dingle Jag was told that the entrance was at one of the holes, Fluke noticed that bones littered the holes but was pushed nearly into one of the holes when a purple worm came out of the ground and attacked Fluke. The creature swallowed Fluke whole but Fluke was able to d-door out of the stomach back to the group.

In the meantime the remaining stormcrows, were slowly being hemmed in by an increasing number of lizardmen. Some were touching the arms of the heroes in a manner that suggested that they would be the dinner. Flook Dingle Jag’s return startled the lizards and the group flew up into the air and blasted fireballs at the massed lizardmen. Flook Dingle Jag, being particulary annoyed flesh to stone the big lizardman and then distingrated him. The group left to discuss particulars of entry the next day. May 25, 2008 03:57

Whats the green thing? Edit

Aria 26,27, 28 1877 4th age

The stormcrows planned for the next day. Flook Dingle Jag put tongues in his spell list to speak with the lizardmen easier. The group marched back the next day and although able to speak with the lizards, demanding to speak with Veranos, the lizardmen were as intractable as before. The lizardmen fired first doing minor damage to Flook Dingle Jag, Hyorn Rutherford and Nuna.

The stormcrows responded with spells and swept the walls of the crossbowmen and unleashed significant amount of damage to the community. Angry they left the community and discussed another plan. They would gather up the lizardmen in the surrounding areas to crush Veranos lizards. They went north and found a community of lizardmen and tried to discuss the situation. They noticed that the lizardmen of that community was about half the bulk of the Veranos lizardmen and not very willing to commit to a war of agression. Irriated the Stormcrows left again.

More discussion came about and the group decided on a assault on Veranos stronghold. They suspected that the Veranos lizardmen would not come out for a fight after being soundly trashed twice by the group. The group went over the walls via mass fly and after being ineffectually pelted by crossbows landed on the walkway. Lothar decided to try to open the door, the others lifted off the ground. The ramp below Lothar dropped away. Lothar dropped a couple of feet before the fly worked. Within the pit was a green mass of jelly. Psuedopods struck Lothar and he could smell an acidic odor. He broke free of the jelly. In the meantime the spellcasters in the group felt spells being ripped away from their being. All cast at the green jelly with no discernable effect. Lothar was again struck by the pseudo pods and again smelled the odor. Again the spellcasters felt spells being ripped away from them. All retreated high into the air. The jelly climbed out of the pit. The spellcasters kept blasting away at the jelly, never with a discernable effect. Lothar changed weapons and fired arrows into the creature. It seemed to have more of an effect so he continued until his quiver was empty. He then went back into the lizardman village and gathered a crossbow and quarrels and shot the creature dead. The spellcasters had depleted their spells in a feeble attempt to kill the creature. The group then retreated away. June 21, 2008 05:19

Doors, why did it have to be doors Edit

Aria 29,30 1877 4th age

The group decided after the fight to go away and rest up for the final assault on the structure. Flook Dingle Jag redid his spell list as well as Nuna and Hyorn. The Stormcrows then flew back and watched the remaining lizardmen of the village flee into their buildings.

They landed on the ramp and proceeded to break down the door. Inside they found a corridor with another door. The floor was checkered in 5 foot squares alternating black and white. A detect traps and snares and Flooks ability to discern magic detected nothing. Lothar and Nuna’s cat struggled to open the door. After the door was opened, they spotted yet another door and open space to the walls to the right and left. The group joked about the lack of the knock spell or a rogue and applied themselves to that door. Again a struggle for Lothar and the Cat but the door was forced open. A extremely steep stairway opened downward, ending in yet another door. Lothar reached the bottom and found it was cooler than the upper elevation and there was condensation on the walls.

The difference was that this door was made of metal. Lothars strength was buffed up and the door opened slowly making a sound like nails on a blackboard. They spotted a ten foot tall metal man and soon saw five of them, four were identical the other different. They went into discussion mode. A spot check revealed that the different metal man moved ever so slightly and the closest of the Iron golems went to the door. Flook launched a fireball into the room as the Iron golem took a swing at Lothar inflicting minor damage. Lothar’s riposte was weak as he was still trying to push the door open. The group lost sight of the other golems.

Lothar then felt the door being pushed back on him and the second golem breathed on hime and the cat, both made thier saves and were relatively unharmed by the breath. Both Nuna and Flook summoned creatures, Nuna a large earth elemental and Floor celestial lions. Nuna had the elemental tear the door off its hinges and although it was attacked constantly succeed in doing so.

In the mean time the different golem attempted a spell which succeeded and the golem was wreathed in blue flame. With the door off the hinge the group could see the entire room. The book that they had come for was there and the walls had embedded circular discs. Lothar forced his way in and took on the golem that had been bothering him. The spell casters tried various spells against the golems with very little success. The different golem also attempted to cast spells but seemed to fail in his casting attempt fairly often. It was guessed that the spellbook had something to do with it. Soon after the discs on the wall rolled back and water came in with a rush knocking over the cat. A new door at the top of the stairs began to roll out until Flook stopped it with a force wall. The summoned creatures were eventually destroyed, one of the golems was also down when Lothar went after the different golem and attacked viscously inflicting damage on the creature as well as himself, for the creature had a fireshield up. Lothar yelled for the others to get back as the water was now over nine feet high, making things difficult. He decided to once more go on full attack and hoped that he would inflict more damage than he took and finish off the creature. He succeeded and had taken approximately 85% of his hit points with three more golems to fight. He shadowalked out.
